AFL Cartridge Filtration PT.PROFILTER INDONESIA Quick Response + 6281385066789 Email : sales@ profilterindonesia.com Reduce operating costs and improve the efficiency of RO membrane filtration systems in desalination, water treatment and process applications. Clerify™ thoroughly removes the dissolved, dispersed and emulsified oil from water in a single pass eliminating oil fouling of membranes which leads to costly cleaning and shortened membrane life. Clerify™ is a revolutionary media that is a barrier to trace oil contamination often present in feed or process water. Thorough removal of trace oil contamination from water is becoming an increasingly common requirement, as less desirable water sources have to be utilised. Clerify™ is an ideal solution, it provides exceptional oil removal performance, typically removing up to 95% of total hydrocarbons from water in a single pass and has the capacity to hold 300% of it’ s own weight of oil. Clerify™ is so effective because it chemically bonds with the removed hydrocarbon. This also means removed oil cannot leach out, even when the media is fully saturated, a major problem with alternative oil separation technologies. The unique adsorption technique that Clerify™ employs enables high flow rates to be accommodated. The media is convenient to use, the pressure differential through the media remains constant throughout its life. In addition to removing oil contamination, Clerify™ also removes a high percentage of certain heavy metals. Clerify™ oil removal media is available in cartridge format to fit many widely available industrial filter housings, a wide range of housings are also available direct from AFL. A Clerify™ trace oil removal system, which uses the media in a bulk format, is also available for large-scale applications. Details of all systems are available on request. Since it’ s introduction in 1998, Clerify™ has become increasingly widely used in a huge variety of applications. The media’ s performance has been specifically proven for the protection of RO membrane systems in projects world wide, typical applications include: Desalination Reverse Osmosis Membrane protection. The production of paper and paper products requires large amounts of water. A client located in the United Arab Emirates was faced with the problem of locating sufficient volumes of high quality water at economic cost for his production processes, a difficult task in a region which is exceptionally short of water. Various alternatives were considered but the most economic option was to utilise water from a nearby harbour treated in a series of ways. Screens were located at the water inlet points followed by pre-filtration and finally by a reverse osmosis desalination system. Existing desalination systems in the locality frequently encounter operational problems caused by trace oil contamination in the feed water. The large hydrocarbon molecules form a coating on the membranes which is difficult to remove even when chemical treatment is applied, an expensive and inconvenient procedure which also reduces the membrane life. The trace oil contamination originated from spills from shipping operations compounded by discharges from local petrochemical plants, the typical oil contamination level in the feed water was 2PPM. To eliminate operational difficulties encountered elsewhere, a method of removing the trace oil contamination thoroughly, reliably and economically was required, Clerify™ was the selected system. The specified flow rate for the system was 40 cubic meters per hour and an AFL AXR45C40 filter housing was installed. This housing contains five Clerify™ A1R117-40AB oil removal cartridges, which have the total capacity to hold almost 26 Kg of removed oil. The system has the capability to treat 13 500 cubic meters of water before cartridge replacement is required, a quick, simple operation requiring no special tools. Depending upon the output of the factory, cartridge replacement is every 2 to 4 weeks. The AFL AXR45C40 Clerify™ was successfully commissioned in early 2000 and has proven effective at reducing the water treatment costs by removing up to 95% of the total hydrocarbons present in the feed water. Reduced cleaning and replacement costs are anticipated while Clerify™ treatment costs are negligible. Desalination Plant, Electricity Utility Company. An existing desalination plant operated by an electricity generating utility company was situated in a remote location and was encountering severe oil fouling of reverse osmosis membranes. The high oil contamination level of 14PPM was generated from a number of sources including offshore tanker loading operations. Oil fouling of the membranes was causing shortened system life and the need for frequent chemical cleaning, an expensive and inconvenient operation. Although the flow rate was relatively low at 273L/ min, the high inlet oil contamination level linked with the need for long intervention period as well as a low outlet oil contamination level were important considerations. AFL therefore recommended duplex AXR45C40 filter housings holding a total of ten Clerify™ A1R117-40AB oil removal cartridges. This system has the combined capacity to remove almost 52Kg of oil before cartridge changeover is required. Clerify™ cartridges are available in a wide range of common lengths and fittings so can also be used in many alternative housings that are available if required. Clerify™ typically removes up to 95% of the dissolved, dispersed and emulsified oils from water, which means that exceptionally low levels of oil contamination can be achieved. If necessary, Clerify™ cartridges can be used in filter housings installed in series to achieve whatever oil content level is required, even to levels, which are very difficult to measure. The user has found the Clerify™ oil removal system to be a very convenient solution to his oily water problems. The system is economic in operation and because the pressure-differential across the Clerify™ cartridges remains relatively constant irrespective of how much oil has been removed a consistent flow rate is easy to maintain. Clerify™ is so effective because it forms a chemical bond with the hydrocarbon as it is removed, this means that removed oil does not leach back out of the Clerify™ media to cause oil fouling downstream in the system. RO Membrane filter protection, Ohio Steel Mills Oil molecules are comparatively large in size and can easily cause fouling of RO membrane filters even if the water being treated contains just trace oil contamination. Premature fouling of the RO membrane leads to expensive process interruptions and extensive cleaning effort is required to rectify the fouling, this is a time-consuming and costly operation. A steel processing plant in Ohio USA has recently installed two large filter vessels, each housing twenty-two AFL Clerify™ A1R70-40AB cartridges, providing a total oil adsorption capacity of almost 65 kg. The vessels are operated in parallel and are each capable of processing almost 6 cubic metres of water per minute. This treatment system is installed as a pre-filter upstream of the RO membrane to remove ‘ ’ tramp’ ’ oil accidentally introduced into the circulating process water during manufacturing procedures performed on site. The inlet oil contamination level was initially 5mg/ L and this is now reduced to less than 1mg/ L in a single pass through the Clerify™ cartridges to reduce maintenance costs, utility charges and eliminate potential problems associated with bacterial activity. Pre-RO treatment of boiler feed water from low-grade sources. The client, a major design & engineering contractor for large scale capital projects increasingly encounters the problem of being required to utilise less desirable water sources for applications such as power stations located in areas where water is scarce. In some instances to provide sufficient boiler feed make up water to offset losses, low grade water sources including secondary treated sewage must be utilised. The water is initially pre-filtered to remove particulate contamination then softened before treatment with a reverse osmosis membrane installation. Water from such low-grade sources is frequently contaminated with very low levels of oil and grease; this contaminant has the potential to cause considerable disruption to the membrane system. Large hydrocarbon molecules line the membrane surface with an oily coating which can only be removed by expensive chemical cleaning, a time consuming, inconvenient and expensive procedure. Frequent chemical cleaning can reduce the life span of the membrane driving operating costs even higher. In a recent application in the Far East, secondary treated sewage is being utilised for boiler feed make up water fed to a power station. Analysis confirmed that the flow of 50 cubic meters per hour contained an average oil and grease contamination level of 5PPM comprising of soluble and insoluble oils. A duplex AFL AXR45C40 housing system was recommended which accommodates a total of ten Clerify™ oil removal cartridges with the combined capacity to hold almost 52Kg of removed oil. The duplex arrangement extends the intervention period to a convenient duration of 14 days. Changeover of the cartridges is a simple task requiring no special tool when almost 11 000 cubic meters of water have been treated. Clerify™ trace oil removal systems are very robust and reliable in service, unlike other oil separation technologies the equipment requires no special maintenance other than cartridge replacement when necessary. Disposal of spent cartridges is a simple procedure in accordance with local regulations alternatively they can be readily incinerated to a fine ash. http: / / www.profilterindonesia.com/ Ready Stock TH2-40-20F Filter Cartridge 2 Micron, TH5-40-20F Filter Cartridge 5 Micron, TH10-40-20F Filter Cartridge 10 Micron a
